Steven “Gates” Scott, DO
Steven “Gates” Scott, DO is a family medicine resident physician at the Florida State University Family Medicine Residency at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare. He earned his medical degree from the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated summa cum laude from Washington State University with a degree in biochemistry.
Dr. Scott chose family medicine because he values long-term relationships, whole-person care, and helping patients improve their health in ways that are realistic for their lives. His clinical interests include preventive care, chronic disease management, HIV medicine, sexual health, and equitable care for underserved and LGBTQ+ communities.
His approach is grounded in practical, evidence-based medicine. He uses current medical guidelines and research while also considering each patient’s goals, concerns, and lived experience. Whether addressing a new symptom, managing a chronic condition, discussing prevention, or building a long-term health plan, Dr. Scott aims to make care understandable, collaborative, and actionable.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with family, exploring food and culture, staying active, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
